Kristal this was a very insightful interview. I really enjoyed reading it. As someone in an interracial, intercultural relationship, it’s helpful in understanding those experiences of biracial/multicultural/mixed children.

Although, I noticed a concern at the end of the piece with the editorial note: Shiv has since changed his preferred gender pronoun to “she.” Using Shiv’s old pronoun “his” in context to the now preferred pronoun “she,” is doing the exact opposite Shiv and her parents would probably want. It’s always important to use those preferred pronouns in context to the present, instead of utilizing the old. In the future, this is a great resource:
